THE SCHOLARSHIP IN EUROPEAN UNION

Introduction on country represented
The European Union (EU) comprises 27 member States such as  i.e, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemborg, Hunggary, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
The EU is represented in Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam by the Delegation in Jakarta established in 1998.

Description of the education system
European has around 4.000 higher eduacation institutions with over 17 million students and 1.5 million staff in the world.
In 1999, the ministers in charge of higher education from 29 European countries agreed to introduce a set of reforms in their national higher education systems with a view to setting up a European Higher Eduaction Area by 2010. This Bologna Declaration set in motion a series of actions to make European higher education more compatible and comparable, more competitive, and attractive for Europe's citizens and for students and scholars from other continents.

Bologna Declaration consist of :
-Adoption of  a system of easily readable and comparable degress
-Adoption of a three-cycle system, often called bachelor, master, and doctorate
-Establishment of a system of credits
-Promotion of mobilty
-Promotion of the European cooperation in quality assurance
-Promotion of the European dimension in higher eduaction

The EU is financing Erasmus Mundus Programme aims to enhance quality of higher eduaction through scholarship and academic co-operation between Europe and other countries. The Erasmus Mundus Programme for 2009-2013 offers:

How much is the scholarship worth ?
The Erasmus Mundus Scholarship are a full scholarship programme covering tuition fees, living costs, and return airfares.
- EMMC: 24,000 Euro per student for one-year indcludes :
  - Travel expenses
  - Tuition fees
  - Monthly stipends
  - Accommodation, etc
or 48.000,- Euro per students for a two-year course. Stipends for scholar will cover each a three month period namely 14.800 Euro per scholar (accomodation, monthly stipend, travel expenses, etc)
