Gabonese Government grants for studies in France


Program description
There are different types. The scholarship to go and study in France (D type) is granted once the candidate has got the baccalaureat (high school diploma) and can fulfil every condition. It covers all the years to the degree course and the postgraduate ones.

Monthly payment : 280,000 F CFA (427 €, including the lodging allocation)

+ Registration and tutoring fees (2,000,000 F CFA maximum per year, or 3,050 €)
+ Yearly outfit allowance (180,000 F CFA, or 275 €)
+ Additional family allowance
+ Social security and medical cover
+ Specific basic allowance (dissertation writing)
+ Lodging allocation in dormitory (if possible). The rent is directly withdrawn by the CROUS out of the monthly payment.

Duration
The scholarship is allocated for the academic year (October 1st – September 30th), but it is paid to the student as from the registration date.

The scholarship is granted until the end of the started degree course, if every condition is met (degree success).

Number of grants
The scholarships are sorted on line according to the number of scholarships offered by each institution.

Every year, about 3,000 Gabonese students are granted a scholarship to go to France, including 500 new ones.

Remarks
Academic level specificities : the candidates must hold their baccalaureat (high school diploma) or an equivalent degree.

During the final year, the candidates must get at least an average grade of 11.5 out of 20, pass an entrance exam or get a distinction higher than average.
Required documents
The students who just passed their baccalaureat must get a scholarship application from the DGBS , their headmaster or from the cultural attaché (when abroad) that will include :
- a passport photo,
- a legal photocopy of the birth certificate.

The file must be sent to the DGBS before March 15th.

After the baccalaureat results have been announced, the file must be completed with:
- a legal photocopy of the baccalauréat,
- a legal photocopy of the 3 reports of the final year (twelfth grade),
- an extract from police records (from the birth place court),
- a 10 year' commitment,
- a medical certificate.

Eventually : a bill specifying the private school fees.

Deadlines
March 15th for the students who just passed their baccalaureat ; April 30th for the others.

Selection process
The applications are studied and selected by a committee headed by a President of the Republic representative.
