Introduction on country represented
Belgium is relativity small (32.545 Km2) but thanks to it's georaphical location, the country has become a key economic parthner and transportation hub in the European Union. Many multinational companies have therefore chosen to establish their headquarters in Belgium and it means a benefit for student to study and work in Belgium.
Belgium is also home many intrernational political institutions such as the European Union Commision and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). To take into account the identities and aspirations of three communities living together in Belgium: the Flemish in the North, the Walloons, in the South and Brussels, a bilingual region between , the country has envolved into a Federal State in 1980. Cultural diversity is, not suprisingly, a core feature of the Belgians. It has even become one of their strengths to be able to negotiate resolution of conflict that sometimes arise frome theese differences. That is the famous "Belgian style compromise".

In Belgium, Communities are responsible for taking decisions on services for individulas, such as, The Flemish Community is responsible for education in the Dutch-Speaking part of the country whilst The French Community is the competent authority for the French-Speaking part of Belgium.
